Quick Check up! 2 years ago

Went to the hospital yesterday for my check up. Altho I felt I’d had a bad month last month (more than a few highs), My HBA1C came back 6.6! Wow I was supprised and my lipids
cholesterol 3.8
LDL 2.1

So I happy with those results. I still get too many highs before lunch time. I normally take my Levemir at lunch time, so this is prob not the best time to be taking it, as breakfast carbs bringing levels up and the Levemir is wearing off at this stage.

Today is my first day of taking Levemir in the morning. I’m interested to see the results of this change! I’ll give it a few week and see what happens!

New hba1c 2 years ago

Got my results yesterday! Getting better down to 7.0, not bad at all I think. I’m getting used to my new insullin at this stage and counting carbs is OK too. Sure I make mistakes sometimes but you just pick yourself back up and get back on the horse and keep going.

The alternative is unthinkable so I must, pitty it took me this long to figure that out! Huh

Oh well just have to solider on :)

slight wobble! 3 years ago

I have been away working in England for the past 4 weeks and doing the whole living out of a hotel thing and take outs every night also isn’t the best thing for the control. Things havn’t been so bad tho, my control has been ok for the main part but Idid tray off the path a little once or twice. I went to the cinema (new james bond) one night and went a little mad on the sweets. I woke up the next morning with a blood level of 22! Jeez I was furious with myself, I adjusted insullin intake and by lunch the levels were ok again.

I’m normally ok with the sweet things, I just say no but every now and again they just look so tasty and I give in hangs his head in shame But I’m back on the beaten track again and the levels are good again.

Christmass is around the corner tho, Hmmm christmass, theres always load of goodies at christmass :( and I have a Hba1c thingie after crimbo sometime too. It will be better than the last!

Gota be done! 3 years ago

OK so I’ve been a diabetic for almost 15 years now, well its been a while anyway. I spent the first 10 years not really taking care of the diabetes, gluco meter! whats that?

And now I’m starting to pay the price for my actions, long term complications, yup they don’t seem so far off now.

Well enough about the past and more about the future! I have a great future to look forward to, I just have to make that way.

I’ve started to test my bloods before each meal, I count my carb intake and take my insullin accordingly. Man I hate those blood tests, my fingers feel like an overused pin-cushion! I can actually see the marks left in the tips from tests I did days ago and the diabetic nurse wants me to do even MORE testing!

My Hba1c came in a few months ago and it was 12.9 which the doc was not impressed with, the last one which a few weeks ago was 8.2, Doc still not happy, but the difference this time is that I’m not happy with it and I will be taking control of it more and more now.

Alot of thing will have to change inorder for me to take control of my diabetes. The biggest one is my job, I’m going to have to find a new job that I like and that more suitable to my diabetes.

I can do this and I WILL DO THIS!
