He’s gotta be!
Yesterday, all day long, I waited and waited: 0 cheers.
Today, 14(!) of them awaiting me.
I mean, what is up with that? LOL
that the cheer goblin discounts a cheer given in a thread about the cheer goblin?
‘Cuz it sure seems like that’s what’s happening!
Today his trick is not to give me more when I’ve earned them!
Sure, I got 5 for the basic “Recommended Daily Allowance”....
And then I got 5 more as tit-for-tat or ping-pong cheers, as fresh incoming equalled recent outgoing.
But now, having had (and used) 10 cheers in this 24-hour period, the new (incoming) cheers I’m receiving aren’t generating new (outgoing) cheers for me to use! Not fair! Waaaah!
Some sort of software glitch is occuring, or perhaps the Cheer Gods are punishing me for my curiosity about the mechanism by which fresh cheers are awarded!
The place at the upper right of the screen that usually shows something along these lines:
Cheers available: 7
Last cheered: 16 hours ago
People subscribed to you: 2is completely blank this evening. I have no scorecard!
How funny! lol
Outgoing cheer given, incoming cheer received, and fresh bright shiny clean new cheer pops up as available!
Another outgoing cheer given, another incoming cheer received, and oh, joy! Still another fresh bright shiny clean new cheer pops up as available!
Looks like this is working as a 1:1 exchange, at least to some degree (or, at least on the level at which I’m participating in 43Things).
with 6 fresh cheers!
But I was only cheered by one person (which would only account for one of the six new ones).
Perhaps 5 is the Minimum Daily Allotment?
Still curious! grin
Seriously, though, I’m trying to figure this out (the cheer manufacturers weren’t answering their phones or returning my calls grin):
It seems that I get a new cheer to give each time I receive a new cheer from someone else (the “pass it on” theory of cheers).
But there also seems to be some baseline level of cheers that are given out every day (the “automagic” theory of cheers).
This came up from the ad-server on the same page where I was at that moment adding the goal “Give 200 Cheers” (sorry, the formatting didn’t stick, but you get the idea)!
