Went there for a fundraiser for R74, so we can be the first state to win marriage equality in a popular vote.
Took a 50 year old boring suburban couple to get the dance floor going, I guess.

I was in a barbecue place, and a band called Red Dawg was playing that all-American music that’s a bit of jazz, a bit of blues, a bit of country, a bit of folk, and a bit of rock, all kind of mixed together.
About halfway through I got up and danced. No one else was dancing. But what the heck. I didn’t know most of the people there. And the people who I came with – they’re pretty forgiving.
1. I was riding my bike to work. I pulled up behind a car; it’s not the dominant direction of traffic, so it’s always a long time before we get the green arrow. The motorist was playing his car stereo really loud, and I could hear the strong dance beat from where I was, even with all the other cars, the rain, and his window tightly rolled up. I danced as best I could, while astride the bike. I don’t think he even looked once in his rear view mirror, but I amused myself, anyway.
2. At shul, both for the opening and closing song. The rabbi knows I’m an instigator, that was amply shown at the Western Wall in Jerusalem. So he reached out both times to my hand, and I jumped up and got the congregation dancing down the aisles. Is there a better way to usher in Shabbat?
Some white guys in tropical shirts playing reggae and island music. People standing and listening, also mostly white.
The musicians were competent, sang in harmony, laid down a good beat. But they didn’t look that happy or joyful. I did my best to catch their eye, make them smile.
And I just danced. Despite the fatigue of the day. What the heck. I don’t care if no one else was dancing, or what they thought of me. I’ll never see those people again. Why miss out on fun because you’re too self-conscious?
We danced for hours. My husband actually enjoyed himself. We weren’t the oldest ones there, but pretty close.
I saw someone apparently surreptitiously hand out something that looked like rolling papers and eating them. I dk what this was.
I danced more in two weeks in Israel than I have in the last two years.
Ecstatic dancing in the Cistern and under the stars in the clearest night sky I have ever seen
Like mad dogs and Englishmen, singing and dancing in the mid-day desert heat, waiting for a bus to arrive
Dancing with my sisters at the Western Wall on Shabbat.
After going to Yad Vashem, dancing in the streets of Jerusalem, because, for me, the only response to the Holocaust is to embrace life with complete joyous abandon.
On Main Street, a brass band was playing Disney favorites. I danced to one of the Aladdin numbers. What the heck. Emma joined in. This is what I want to be doing with this goal – more spontaneous dancing to music when I feel like it.
