I have to admit I’m more interested in planning for 2009. I’m envious of many writers of posts I’ve read where undoubtedly 2008 has been their best year yet. I wish I could say that. However I suppose I can be glad that it wasn’t going too badly until June.
Successes
1. Finding the miracle drug that has eased my head pain
2. An almost bulimia-free life
3. Finally getting over someone I’d been involved with for years and realising that this was a go-nowhere relationship with no potential.
Disasters
1. Being made redundant
2. After several months of unemployment, getting a terrible job with a terrible manager and a terrible co-worker. The other people are fine but I don’t sit with them.
My goal now is to think long and hard about what I really want out of next year. Needless to say a new job with a manager I respect and co-workers I like is at the top of the list.

November Goals

October Review
I lost 2 kgs. Yay!! I didn’t do aqua aerobics though because the pool was closed and for some reason (even though there are several others in the city) I couldn’t go to any other. I did do some walking. The nicer weather as we get closer to Summer really helps with motivation.
I laugh as I read in my last post about the normal people I work with. Yep, they are normal, but I’ve really hit the big time with my new manager. He’s like no-one I’ve ever come across before. But I just need to get over this and become a lot more resilient. I have the opportunity to get a lot out of this job and I shouldn’t let a disorganised bi-polar nutter stop me from achieving that. I also have to really make sure I don’t let myself get down in the dumps.
November Goals
Health
Lose 5 kg
Go to NIA workshop – has anyone tried this before?
Go to aqua-aerobics 1x a week
Relationships
Try not to let manager piss me off
Get to know S better

Sizzling September Review
It turned out that September really did sizzle! I got a job and I started it this week. I’m working with some really nice and really normal people (at last!) and I think the job will provide me with a good level of challenge. The other highlight was finishing off some bathroom renovations which I’d been waiting to do since I moved in 2 1/2 years ago (but you know how you just get used to things after a while?). I also finished my A-Z author challenge goals after a year and did a lot more photography.
Alas I did not do my health goals. Again. They seem elusive.

August wasn’t quite as awesome as I was expecting. I am days away from being offered a job (more to the point I hope it’s a job I want) so things are starting to come together but I guess what I really want to start focussing on is getting my health and eating back under control. It’s gone pretty haywire this month.

Nothing like a crisis to make you take stock of what’s really important. Despite losing my job, I still think this year has been one of the good ones. It’s been a healing year more than anything. My bulimia and headaches are finally in control, and those have been the biggest achievements of all. I’m going to seriously review my goals for the rest of the year because I want to make sure I feel like I’ve really made the most of it.
