Why not learn German?

A great language, one that English owes a great debt to. So much of our language has evolved from Latin and Norse and French and Greek, but German is right there with the best of them. I used to listen to German satellite tv and never understood very much, but gradually I got a feel for it. I went to night school to study German but the class folded and the nearest alternative was too far away. I’ve visited Europe many times on business including France, Denmark, Switzerland and Germany (Cologne, Frankfurt, Koblenz, Hamburg) but would like to visit Heidelburg and Hanover to study local culture.
