learn to draw

I am terrified of hair, so half of hers is left blank. This is still a work-in-progress, of course. I’m trying to improve my contrast to keep my portraits from looking too flat.

I think I’m improving a bit. At the very least I’m having more fun and expressing myself a little more easily.

I bought a Wacom tablet and have been learning on it. I didn’t have a sufficient model this morning, so I sat down with my laptop and my tablet and sketched my Boy, asleep still in bed.

It’s quick and messy and there aren’t any details, but I like it. It’s not perfect but I’m improving.

I read yesterday about “setting a ground” and decided to try a simple drawing. The only thing around was my foot, so here it is in graphite.

I think it’s a little short. I should probably work on my proportions.

Does it look ANYTHING like a hand?

Maybe not.
