I’ve been working on a denim skirt that I designed a while ago. I took some old jeans and cut them up into strips and sewed them back together for a fun, stripy feel. It’s coming out great, I think.
The biggest problem that I’m having is adjusting the darts. I used stretch denim so that it’s really shapely, and since I have no formal training in pattern making, sizing the darts is really a trial-and-error process.
Also, all of the denim seams are really scratchy on the inside, but I don’t want any more top stitching; I think the whole skirt will be way too busy with more stitches. So… I may need to line my skirt too.
