Since no one really comes on here anymore I made a blog about my Wiccan path. Here’s the link http://nightphillymwow.blogspot.com/

Today, I went on a hike in the snow and gathered some pine cones. Later today I strung a whole bag of popcorn, which is a lot! I plan on decorating my tree outside with the popcorn and the pine cones covered in peanutbutter and bird seed to feed the birds and squirrels. Also, I still need to put up some lights.
My altar has a dark green cloth with two Goddess candles, two God candles, a deer statue to represent the horned God, an evergreen branch, a large sleigh bell, pine cones, a working candle, a ME candle, Fire candle, Air candle, and a Sun candle. Why no athame, wand, chalice, etc.? Because you don’t really need tools for a sabbat, just to cast a circle if that’s what you do. Your altar is to honor the God during sabbat, and since Yule is the birth of the Sun, I put symbols of him and lots of candles to symbolize the light and warmth he brings. I’ll do some singing, decorat a Yule tree, burn a Yule log/stick (no fireplace), give thanks, make wishes, exchange gifts, and welcome the new Seasonal year, since the national new year starts. Also celebrate the Goddess giving birth sence without her there would be no Sun. From the darkness comes the light.
Yule is the Sabbat that celebrates the longest night of the year (Winter Solstice)and the birth of the new sun and new year and the days begin to grow, like a child! Decorating a Yule tree, burning a Yule log, Lots of candles lit, Rituals welcoming the Young God, and having a glorious feast are all Yule time activities. Decorate your altar with candles and sparkly items, a candle dedicated to the Sun, seasonal plants, a bell perhaps, and other things that remond you of Yule. Have fun with it!
I seriously started with two books about witchcraft for beginners and a Book of Shadows (BOS. I have learned so much from those books and now know what to look up on the internet if I want more info. Right now I am filling my BOS with the info I need on hand. I have essential/basic tools, some of which I have made myself; a broom (besom), wand, and pentagram (carved into a plank of bark). I also have some tools which I have bought; a censer, candles, incense, and my beloved Athame (which I’m thinking about naming since it was derived from the sword which was named in Medieval Times such as Excaliber). I’m not quite ready to do a Self Initiation Ritual, but I’m on my way.
there should be at least one book about witchcraft at your school, and define fly local, library. Whether it be about the Salem Witch trials or the Wiccan Religion. There are also a lot of websites about witchcraft. I recomend:
www.teenwitch.com
www.electricwitch.com/chapter1.html
These sites have helped me bunches, but still do some more research about the history of witchcraft and such. A book suggestion is Diary of a Witch.
Hope this helps!
I read somewhere that you don’t have to be born a witch to be a witch. You just need to believe on the religion with your heart and soul.
I’ve figured out that I’m more fascinated in the magic of being a mermaid, of being different.
