I was raised vegetarian, so I’ve never had meat at all. “Nothing with a face,” as Paul McCartney said. I feel vibrant and healthy and alive and happy, almost all the time, and everyone I know who eats meat is constantly complaining about all sorts of ailments and health problems. I never get sick, nor do any of my other vegetarian friends/family. I live and eat guilt-free, knowing I’m not contributing to the immense suffering of billions of animals per year, not to mention the environmental atrocities brought on by the meat industry, let alone all the human rights issues in terms of slaughterhouse workers…
Every meat-eater I talk to always, without fail, asks “what do you eat?” My answer: There’s a whole world of foods to eat! Greens, grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes, pastas, sauces, soups and salads, breads, muffins and sandwiches, desserts… Meat substitutes nowadays, too, which are fabulous, and apparently very hard to tell from the real deal.
Yes, being vegetarian is truly the best thing I can do for myself, my world, and my fellow creatures.
