Well I'm back!

Had just THE MOST AMAZING week – don’t really know where to start but it was such a beautiful place, the hotel was so friendly, the sun shone almost the whole week and I spent most of my time divided between the beach and the sunny hotel balcony. Went swimming in the sea every day, met some totally lovely people, ate all my meals outside except one, stayed up drinking cocktails under the stars until 2am, had some very interesting encounters and most of all had a blissful abundance of thinky time, got caught up with myself, worked through a load of sticky issues and just feel peaceful and straightforward about everything again.
It is SO WEIRD to be back – the weather is awful, I am so not ready for winter (!!), I went away to be alone but made a bunch of pals and ironically had no-one to come home to, and I just feel so different – some things are clearly going to have to change. But it’s all good :) I have gotten so much of value from this week and am totally ready to move forwards!

First thing tomorrow morning… Am going to try very hard not to let myself drag myself anywhere near a computer so if all goes well it will be radio silence until next Saturday, hope everyone has an excellent week!!!
Yeehah!

6 days to go!!

And I think I have almost everything I need – just need to get sunglasses, and a sketchbook, and both of those should be possible in a lunchtime this week.
The whole point of the holiday is to permit myself to do absolutely nothing at all for as long as I like! I should be able to swim (several times!) every day, and have lots of walks to/on the beach, and I’m going to take my paints and my journal so I can write and write poems and stuff. And take a book I actually want to read. And that should be about it!

I managed to catch the very end of the summer sales and picked up sun cream, two very cheap pairs of shorts and a super-cute sun hat. My tickets came on Friday woohoo! So I guess all I need now is bug spray and notebooks! Also need to assess the swimsuit situation, as I think I have some old ones that won’t matter if they get full of salt and sand. And need to fish out some of my old summer clothes too I guess…
Less than three weeks to go!!

Yay!!! I leave on 27th September…
The name of this goal is now totally pointless, but I will leave it up anyway!

I’ve cracked it… it has been a LOT of searching but I think I am happy. Corfu, a little hotel on a hill, a bit further from the beach but there are two beaches, it looks quiet, and the hotel looks cool and clean and divinely welcoming!! Price within budget and flights from the nearest airport that aren’t at stupid o’clock…
I have saved it on expedia and printed all the stuff so will mull it over over the weekend and hopefully get it booked soon… exciting!

Seems to be a nice place, I have heard good reports, should be perfectly satisfactory for a beach holiday. I am this close to booking…
“save up” is a bit of a misnomer really. hehe

I had a beach holiday (the only time actually) I had one full day (2 nights, sandwiched by two days travelling!) on a beach in Thailand. And to be honest one day was about all I could stand.
I reckon I’d get through two days at least this time.
And (as I discussed with Leopard last night) my vision of a beach holiday also involved a large airy hotel room, a balcony with billowing curtains, a giant bed with crisp fresh white sheets, and me, possibly with my laptop, writing.
I really really want to make this happen now!

and I think I’d quite like one. I’ve never really wanted one before but recently the idea is getting more and more appealing.
It would be quite nice to have some money set aside specifically for it, so that if I got to the end of my tether at work I could just zip off for a week of lounging about in the sun.
Must think of some clever way to do this.
