Occasionally I debate with a homophobic acquaintance, try to get to the root of it so I can end it… But more often than not, these days, I tell them that I’m “stubborn and opinionated over the subject, so if they don’t want to be berated, they should drop the subject.”
I would very much like to organize my brain enough that I might talk someone out of prejudice. I’ll keep trying. I won’t abandon this.

So many people, especially here in the bible belt, harbor extreme grudges against homosexuals. Gay bashing has become something of a social expectancy. We watched a film on tolerance a couple of days ago in one of my history class—it’s almost unbearable how many people spoke up about how “sinful” or “wrong” homosexuality is. You just know they’re the same guys who cheer when two girls kiss.
I’m not lesbian (straight with bisexual tendencies), but I have issues with close minded people. Blame my idealism =].
