The first one had to do with my family… All of my family. It was an alternate reality, I suppose, where everyone had a sort of pet that was important to their functionality… Sort of like daemons in the “His Dark Materials” series by Philip Pullman, except that you weren’t born with them, you could buy them. I was on vacation somewhere northwest of Missouri, in a semi-large but secluded town with a lot of forest… And I was having the worst vacation of my life XD. I don’t remember precisely what made it so bad, but everything was going wrong. Part of the horror was that the animals were acting rabid. They’d be alright for a while, but then they’d attack you or someone around you, and the only way to stop them was to break every bone in their body. Suffice to say it was a graphic dream. There was some bit where I went out to dinner with my father, brother, and sister, but as I walked into the restaurant, some animal set it on fire or the like… So people were screaming and some were trying to kill it. I know I killed at least three of these in my dream, and there were parts of animals scattered everywhere (I killed a snake and a cat, and a calf as well I suppose, and saw a dear in a parking lot being destroyed). I suppose I figured out somewhere in my dream that the company who was distributing animals was giving them experimental products that turned them raucous. Anyway, I got in touch with the rest of my family, but my mother was missing, so we had to drive around looking for her (which was frightening particularly for the ghost in the rearview mirror that you couldn’t see with just your eyes). Eventually we split up to look harder and I went back to the hotel to find her. Part of what made the vacation so bad was that I’d lost my hotel key AND my cell phone, so I asked around at the front desk, to no avail. I snuck upstairs to check our room. She wasn’t there, but I became side-tracked when I found a boy whom I’d met before playing the wii. I went to his house and his mother was being super nice to me. The first time I went there she made me a sandwich, and the next time she was asking to brush my hair… I don’t remember the significance, but yeh. After a bit we met up with my mum, but I haven’t a clue what happened to my sister or father, they sort of disappeared from my dream. This time, however, it was as though we had moved to this new place, into a home that had been in our family for over a century. My brother left me a note, just before disappearing, telling me I had to plug in this computer that had been in the house and play through the game on it, but I had to finish before dawn; it would tell me the “family secret” but it was dangerous knowledge. It was a bit like playing Zelda. I figured out that my brother hadn’t been alive for years, that he was a sort of ghost… My uncles were also ghosts, and I was going to become one very, very soon if I couldn’t defeat the ghost of my great great great great grandmother. I guess at some point she had invented an antibiotic cream, but it had never gone through testing like products nowadays have to go through. Apparently, whenever it was used, it killed the person and brought them back as a ghost/apparition/consciousness. My mother had used it on my brother when he was a toddler, hence the death; my grandmother had as well, on her sons. It was actually rather tragic… So we dueled my great grandmother, each of us, with a sort of trivia game (which I was surprisingly horrid at). There wasn’t really an end to the dream… It ended in battle.
The next dream was set in my home, but with a few alterations that entirely changed the scene. It was a Harry Potter-esque dream o_O. Voldemort had been married and had two children before promptly disappearing after the second’s birth. His disappearance was somehow attributed to his wife… He returned as his daughter was about six years old to find out a bit of information. Along here, parts of the dream were sort of mapped out in words; there are particular phrases that ran through my head… As he snuck in through the back door, he found his daughter and-washed her hair with a different shampoo than she was supposed to use o_O. The family generally used lavendar shampoo, but when the wife/mother found her daughter as dawn struck, she could smell the apple shampoo on her hair, hence alerting her that Voldemort had been around and setting her on edge. He returned after a few days, and lured his daughter out toward the forest, asking her questions. There was something about why his wife’s eyes were so large, and why he looked so much like her… He was afraid he had somehow linked magic with his wife, that destroying her would consequently destroy him. As he climbed the limbs of huge trees in the forest, his daughter followed, reaching heights that could kill her from the drop. She told him (in that oh-so-cute innocent little kid voice) that no, he hadn’t absorbed her mother’s power – her mother was ten years younger than Voldemort and had learned so much from him that her power looked like his, that she looked like him. As the girl started to climb onto a near-broken branch, Voldemort felt a paternal wave of panic and told her not to, to climb back down safely (aww). As her mother, driven mad with worry, rushed outside yelling for her daughter, Voldemort disappeared around the side of the house – but not before his son (who I suppose was around eight) caught sight of him. I haven’t a clue what significance the shampoo has, but he ended up rushing away from the scene before he could grab it. The son hurried around back and told his mother about the person, said “I think it was him,” and ran toward her. By this point the wife was in tears with fright, gathering her daughter toward her and “accio”-ing the shampoo to take it, screaming for her son to hurry toward her. I don’t know what I was in the dream (certainly not a child, and Voldemort couldn’t see me), but I latched onto the mother’s arm and caught the bottle of shampoo. As soon as her son was within reach, she apparated (with all three of us) to the place she thought least likely to be found by Voldemort – his home. The only physical details I remember were the black (everything, from the house to the car, was black), and the humongous house. It was dark, also; odd, since we had left at dawn from wherever we were. We walked around the sides of the house, trying doors and windows, and as we got around back we realized that the second story windows were open and floated up (how did we do that?) to crawl in them. The first thing we noticed was the feast – there were tables of food set out in every room, steaming hot and delicious-looking. I was on edge, telling the wife/mother to be careful, since it was obvious we were expected, but for some reason we stayed, wandering around from room to room, nibbling at the food. Eventually more people began to show up, gathering plates of food and seating themselves at tables. I had a plateful of fruits and vegetables with a tad bit of the main course (I suppose my subconscious remembered my eating habits XD), and was able to get a good seat, but I returned to pick up some strawberries and celery, and when I got back, there was a little boy with thick glasses seated at my place, looking out of his element. I politely informed him that I’d been sitting there and he paled a bit, looking around at the full tables, and asked if he could share a spot with me. I told him that would be a bit awkward, but a spot had opened up further down our table, so he leapt for it. My neighbors (a man and a woman) thanked me, saying they didn’t want to be seated next to someone of such low status (how rude!). I asked, somewhat reluctantly, what the feast was for, mentioning that we’d been informed of it rather abruptly. The woman explained that it was to celebrate the return of Voldemort, of course – at which point I heard a blare of death metal, turned to look at where it was coming from, and woke up to find Opeth playing.
I don’t understand how these were so detailed! My dreams aren’t usually so long… and when they are, I don’t generally remember them so well o_O.
