OK, Back-burner!

I thought I might have done this in 2010, but in the end I wasn’t sure enough of my finances. C has been learning instead and should be taking his practical test any day now, so at least one of us has learned. I still want this as I may need it in a future career, even if I don’t need it right now (you don’t really need it in the city when you’re young and have no kids etc).

I might start in 2011 – if C gets into a post-grad for that September as we’ll be here for a while longer – otherwise it’ll be pushed deeper into the back-burner until after we’ve been travelling.

Might Actually Happen ...

I bought a driving manual and software for practising the theory test which I’m going to make myself familiar with before starting lessons at the beginning of February hopefully.

I finally have enough money and time to consider this!

I’ll be learning in an automatic because the first time I tried to learn I was too overwhelmed with having to do so much at once. I hope that this combined with 2 hour lessons should reduce the overall learning time and costs as well.

One Step Closer!

Got my renewed licence back – that was really fast!

Sent off renewed Provisional application.

Well I discovered which form I needed, got a new picture (which was horrible but I’m hoping it will be so mini on the licence that I won’t really mind), and sent it all off to what I hope was the right place, with what I hope was the right payment amount.

I should get the new provisional in a few weeks – in the meantime I hope I don’t get ID’d anywhere!

Must get new provisional licence!

The first thing I need to do is get a new provisional licence as mine expires in a few months. I can’t find any information anywhere about how to do this though – I can’t believe every single person learns to drive in the 10 years that they have the licence – surely some people are as poor as me!

It looks like I’ll have to drop into the local DVLA office and find out face-to-face. Then I will move on to learning all the theory …
