Tonight we had some lovely Maris Piper potatoes with our dinner. Freshly dug up by hubby just beforehand.
The main ingredient of the rest of dinner was a squash (we’re still debating which kind) from my mother’s garden although I reckon that we’ve got another 6-10 meals from that one – it was huge!

First veggies
Tonight we had 4 small courgettes with our dinner. Each was about 10cm long but they were fully grown. As we had the courgettes in a grow bag the plants didn’t grow too big so were never going to produce big veggies.
Ah the taste of success ;)

More progress

The potatoes and garlic are coming up outside. The onions aren’t there yet but I’ve hope they’ll make an appearance.
I’ve planted the leeks and perpetual spinach out and they seem to be doing OK – spinach is doing better than the leeks.
I’ve red bell peppers, parsnips, purple-sprouting broccoli, courgettes, butternut squash and 3 types of pumpkin growing indoors still but they’re getting closer to going out.
Hope I have enough room in my little garden to put them all out. Otherwise they’re going on the patio in growbags!
In addition to my veggies I have lavender coming up nicely, some herbs left in the garden by the previous owner and some fruit bushes – gooseberry (with loads and loads of fruit on – shame we don’t really like gooseberry), blackcurrant (with a few little berries on) and what appears to be a rogue raspberry plant between two parts of patio.

The spinach seedlings are growing nicely – they’re over an inch high and have little leaves already. Hubby asked if it was the right time to crop them for baby spinach! He can’t wait either then.
I have tiny little spouts in 5 of my leek compartments and hopefully the rest will follow.
Just waiting on the peppers to spout now…

My spinach plants have all sprouted. They’re keen to get out into the garden.
More than I can say about the leeks and peppers. Oh well perhaps I’m just being a little impatient about them. Give them time, sunlight and water and they’ll sprout too.

I have got some windowsill greenhouses (you know long thin seed trays with individual pots and a clear high lid).
So far I have planted some leeks, perpetual spinach and granny smith red peppers. Once these have become decent seedlings I’ll plant them outside with my seed potatoes and onions. I’ll then reuse these windowsill greenhouses for the April planting veggies (courgettes, squash etc).
