I’m guessing I’ll have to start again, as in 5 months, I’m moving to Sweden. Unless I find a way of taking some of ‘em with me, but plants and things, can be tricky at customs.

I cut an re-potted one of the laburnums, and I cut some of the other back so they’ll grow more branches out from the top later on. I also have to find out what some of my trees actually are. I know there should be two acers/maples, and and a couple of other species, but the leaves have fallen off these ones so it’s hard to tell. Ginko is easy to spot, and the wisteria is doing well (I cut the roots back on this one today also). So it’s going okay, no wiring as of yet, only to secure the laburnum in it’s shallow bonsai pot. Shall see how they look in spring.
on starting shaping a couple of them this winter, seeing how they do. If they’re successful I can start on the others :)
They’re not really bonsai’s yet, just small trees. I have to start cutting and shaping them soon, and putting them into shallow, bonsai dishes. I hadn’t done this before because they were only very young, and too much cutting could’ve done more harm than good. But it definitely needs to be done before their leaves develop (it’s just easier that way).
The laburnum trees (of which there are six) are about a foot and a half tall now, in their own pots. I haven’t cut them back at all yet, because they’re still very young. Will probably start training them into shape when they’re a about a year, maybe a year and a half old.
My Laburnum seeds are growing, only about four of the ten at the moment (and none of the three that germanated overnight, which is stange) but it’s better than nothing. No Crape Myrtle seeds have come up yet, and I don’t think they will now, planted them on the 18th (4 weeks ago today), but we’re keeping them damp just in case. We’ve got 10 three-year-old trees coming soon, so I’m going to make those into bonsai as well.
I think I should probably move this from the top of my list :) I plan to plant the seeds I have this weekend, but it’s going to be a long time until I can start anything creative. Still, it’ll be nice to have seen the trees through all their stages. Hehe, that’s what I do when working with children as well, thinking about it :)
I’m really itching to get this started, but I really should wait until March time. Still, it’ll be fun once I get going :)
Sadly, I have to wait to plant my seeds until the new year, around March time. Still, that isn’t too far away now :) I have Laburnum seeds and Crape Myrtle seeds so this should be a fun goal to complete.
