Hey there,

I know what you’re thinking, ‘that’s not a very formal address for a stranger’, well, let me tell you; I’m no stranger. I’m you in 9 years. I just thought I’d give you some hints and tips for the future.

1. Don’t be so hard on your brother. You are different people, and he will grow up to be a funny, intelligent young man, and a greater friend, you will not find.

2. Yep, you’re weird, it’s official. Don’t worry what others think about that, embrace it!

3. Treasure the friends you’ve got now, ‘cos they won’t be around forever. And I’m sorry to say it looks like making them is always going to be difficult.

4. When eventually you do have boyfriends (and it’s probably sooner than you think), be yourself, never compromise what you believe because you want to keep the peace. If you don’t like something – say it! Actually, you’ll learn this yourself, and just in time ;) I’ll say no more.

5. Whatever dad says, don’t go down the academic route, it will only frustrate and depress you, and be one of the biggest ‘snakes’ of your life. Here’s a ladder: get into nursing in a children’s ward – it pays well, and it’s working with children, something you’ve always wanted.

6. Don’t worry too much about the grades you get at 16 – you know you tried your best and that’s all anyone can ask of you. But perhaps ask for a review of your Science grade.

Well, that’s it I think. Oh, one more thing, if you meet a guy called Colin – stay away, he thinks he’ll be able to teach you how to kiss – what he ends up doing is making you hate it – but that too, shall pass :)

Bye for now,

Rache
