make poverty history

Obviously I haven’t done this but its gonna be a ‘redo’ goal in my completed list.

I was at the demonstration at Trafalgar Square with Nelson Mandela (we were right at the front) (skipped a whole day of classes- a full day-oops) we were right at the front and it was amazing. I’m not sure how this became live8 though, I think that was a big waste of time it did nothing at G8, but I think we should stop the debt for poor countries, as generally they’ve paid the debt off but are stuck continuosly paying off the interest. I think we should give much more aid as well, the UN had a percentage goal ages ago to give a certain amount of our GDP ( I think thats what its called). Small European countries such as Denmark and Switzerland achieved it but larger countries didn’t come anywhere close ie the UK and USA. It horrible what happens in the world and how people turn a blind eye to it. I was watching a documentary on AIDS in africa and it was just horrible it made me so sad, so many people were dying daily, in extremly painful ways. Leaving younger children, family memebers to continue on, with a massive stigma and possibly no help from the community because of this. The worst thing was seeing an interview with a man who was infected and was going out and having unprotected sex, as he didn’t care any more because he knew he was going to die. When asked what he thought if some man had done this to his sister, he said quite convincingly that he didn’t care. Ugh I’m just rambling but there is so much that could be done, there is enough food, money, water, medication etc in this world its just not divided equally. And people in power don’t care to make this a priority.
