Well, it means a lot to me, anyway :)
It’s going pretty well really: Had my 5th lesson tonight, managed a length of the pool. I’m due to start having 2 sessions a week starting on Saturday, since I’ve also signed up for the ‘12 week program’ as well now.
This includes a free pass to use the pool at any time during those three months, so it seemed a pretty good deal…

Well, I’ve just returned from my first lesson, and I am still alive!
This was the informal, “just turn up” class with no particular plan laid out.
I managed nothing more than a doggy paddle with the style, grace and coordination of a robot suffering from tourettes, but still came away feeling extremely pleased with myself :)
There were about 20 people there in total, ranging from people in arm bands to people just trying to improve their technique. I think I’ll probably sign up for the “12 week course” but still turn up to this on a Tuesday night for practice…

It’s a small step, I know, but I’ve been out and got information on the classes available at my two local pools this morning.
One has a formal 12-week program that’s not enrolling until 20th March, the other has a “Just turn up next Tuesday, Mick will sort you out” approach. I can see advantages/disadvantages to both…
