find a new job

I start training today. If they’ve managed to get me a network ID, laptop, etc. I love fast turn-arounds.

The major electronics company I’ve been temping for has asked me to interview for another position. One where I’ll be doing a lot with products that aren’t on the market yet and possibly flying up and down the west coast to train others on their use so they can train their staffs.

Here’s hoping.

So I’m working for the AP department of a major Japanese electronics manufacturer for anywhere from two weeks to a month to get them caught up again. The pay could be better, but it gets me out of the house and away from the ‘net.

Agency called yesterday about an 8 day job starting Thursday. Not quite what I wanted, but it’ll get me out of the house.

Edit (0848): Talked to the gal at the agency and they filled the position with someone a little closer to the client’s specs. Feth.

Applied for two jobs this morning and contacted the agencies who are supposed to be looking for me.

Will apply for more tomorrow.

If my not so great credit score and my abysmal employee score don’t do me in, I’ve got an interview on Friday.

I’m hoping it’s the case, because I can explain in person what’s gone on with the both of those…something a little hard to do when you’re asked for the scores and nothing more.

The Mister reminded me this weekend that this job hunt is what I’m going to make of it. So here I am at Starbucks with an attempt at a positive attitude and a cup of coffee to bolster my search. Okay, so it’s really to negate the 2.5 hours of sleep I got this morning.

I’ve hunted through the Worksource website with nothing I’d consider taking. Silly though it may be, I don’t really think I should work for less than I’m making on unemployment. Next it’s on to the NWJobs site and if I find nothing there, I’ll have to hope Craigslist will produce at least something I can apply for.

Edit (0736): Well, I’ve found a guy who’s looking for a Personal Assistant at $12/hour. Less than I wanted, but he’s allowing it as a work-from-home which means if it’s legit and he hires me, I can pick up a small job nearby for evenings & weekends and start hacking away at all those bills piling up.

Edit2 (0756): There may be something to this networking thing. I gave my resume to a buddy who’s quite well known in tech circles, and he just copied me on a full dozen resumes he’s sent out endorsing my tech skillz and abilities as a worker.

Applied for three jobs today. The hiring manager who the agency swore was going to call me never did. I’ve got a few choice words about that, but there’s no use in making them public.

Hoping to hear back from someone soon, but with the three day weekend looming, I doubt it.

I may be working again as early as Monday. Kelly’s called me last night and asked if I wanted a 3 month data entry assignment. It’s still only $14 an hour, so I’ll definitely be picking up a weekend job to start closing the door on some of the debt we’re in, but it’s a job.

I won’t take it as a permanent (don’t want to do my hands in) but it’ll be good to be working again.

Nothing new in the job department this morning. Applied for two jobs and now it’s a matter of sit and wait.

I don’t do so well at that.
