finish cross stitch projects

But I did finish a small Christmas ornament yesterday. Picture to post tonight.

Eleven to go. Fortunately, these little buggers only take an hour each to sew. I’m not sure how long it’s going to take to fill and finish them, but the snowflake is sewn.

The metallic floss didn’t photograph so well, but it’s there, and the eraser is (once again) simply for size comparison.

And this is what I ended up with. (The pencil eraser is to give an idea of size.)

It’s done, it’s done, it’s done! And now that this is complete, I can go on to some snowflakes. Glee!

I’ve finished four of the sixteen hearts and discovered that none of the boxes I so laboriously stitched are the same size. Part of me wants to rip out the whole thing and do it over on larger count fabric so I can see what in the Lady’s green earth I’m actually doing, and part of me says “You’ve already put 28 hours into it. Can’t you alter it?”

I think the latter side is going to win out, but I’m putting it aside to figure out what I’m going to do with it. As it’s approximately quilt-looking I may find a different design for each and simply call it good.

Actually, I do have a needle. As I got paid last night, I went and bought a pack of the fine needles I need to work the fabric correctly. All sewing items are in my bag and I can sew. Huzzah!

(In other good news, I re-found my notebook which has all the projects I wanted to finish in it along with most of the threads. Incentive to finish this piece up!)

The dire god Finagle and his Mad Prophet Murphy have apparently been in cahoots to keep me from getting anywhere near enough time to pick up a needle. But it’s a quiet night tonight, and I’ve got half an hour before I have to get some sleep, so I’m going to stitch.

19:28 Update – FINAGLE STRIKES AGAIN!

I’ve only got one needle fine enough to work the fabric for my hearts piece. Having finished one heart and getting half-way through the next, the needle goes flying and I can’t find it anywhere. And, of course, I’m too broke to buy another needle until I get paid on Thursday.

Darn it all…

Only 46 this week, and then I’ll be back to 40s. Yay! And how am I going to celebrate? By cross-stitching, of course!

I decided to do them in white since I couldn’t find the right shade of yellow I wanted. Won’t have time to stitch them tonight, but I’ll try to get four of them done tomorrow.

Didn’t finish by valentine’s day, which was my goal, but that’s okay. Goals were made to be pushed back sometimes. New goal is March 16th.

On the up side, I do have four of the sixteen hearts done, but I’m thinking I may pick them out and redo them in a VERY pale yellow as I won’t have enough floss to do all of them in the same variegated color (went from palest yellow to white) as I did the borders.
