And, to finish the list, we’re off to the local Emissions testing place as soon as the boys are dressed. Not terribly exciting, I admit, but the loving Mister has put off getting his emissions done until TODAY when they’re due on Monday.

Love him dearly. I do.

Almost there! Woo-hoo!

The place is called “All Day Music” and it’s a wonderful (and inexpensive) shop! Lotsa’ vinyl records, a few indie and other nonsensical CDs, incense, some posters and shirts, and a baby boomer hanging out behind the counter with his dog.

I hung out and we discussed music and this and that while listening to Jimmy Buffet and enjoyed the sunshine.

I’m so going to be going back there. At least every payday.

Pets n Things 18 months ago

A cute little out of the way pet store that specializes in snakes & lizards…or maybe that’s just all they had out. Anyway, not a bad find.

#9 - The local YMCA 18 months ago

I’d seen the outside, of course, but when the small won a year-long family scholarship, I went in to get us signed up last week. It’s…beautiful, lots of classes and activities and free things for members.

Small one had his first swimming lesson today, and I dragged the Mister along to look the joint over. His only complaint was that he didn’t have tennis shoes to work out. * giggle *

#8 - Big Daddy's Drive In 19 months ago

A classic (if slightly spendy) place with a tiny little eat-in area and where the preferred method is for the waitresses to come out to your car. It’s good food, fast, and the epitome of the classic drive in.

The thing that sets this little place apart is that every Friday (after summer officially starts), there’s a classic car show where locals can bring their reconditioned cars and show them off for all to enjoy. It really is something to see the parade of old cars go down Main Street of an evening.

Their root beer floats, BTW, are absolutely perfect.

edit: root beer floats, not bear floats. Eep!

I didn’t want to do this one, but in order to continue my unemployment benefits (which I will no longer have to file for, thank the Lady), I had to go there.

Could be worse, I suppose.

#6 - Mom's Teriyaki 20 months ago

I meant to post this last week and utterly forgot. Cute little joint right next to the corner grocery, and rather spendy, but oh goodness me does it have good food!

Zola's 21 months ago

Not bad, no wifi, no customers despite it’s being a Sunday morning. Or maybe because of it. Coffee’s rather overpriced for what it is, but the pastries smelled divine.

Coffee 21 months ago

Despite the loving spouse’s vehement insistance that I must have hit up every coffee place in town at least once, I do disagree. There’s an actual honest-to-goodness coffee house called “Zola’s” that’s been installed about a fifteen minute walk from the house.

The goal is to go there sometime this weekend, have a cup of coffee and soak up the atmosphere. I’ll have the laptop too…just in case free Wi-Fi is offered.

Double Duty 22 months ago

Saturday I had to rescue a gamer who’d locked himself out of his car on the border of Auburn & Federal Way. Trusty GPS in hand, I trundled off and did so.

Several wrong turns later, I did find the place and accomplished both a good deed for the day and a new place in the city.
