So, now I have to factor in the little guy! I need to get me up and around, and him up and around and drop him off at daycare and get me to work on time.

So, I need to change what I do in the evenings so that things go smoother in the mornings. This means, making sure that for him the bottles are ready for daycare, the diaper bag is packed, his clothes are laid out for me to dress him and we have enough time for him to eat his “breakfast”. I need to make sure that my clothes are laid out, my breakfast is ready, my purse and any work related materials are next to the front door.

I go back to work on the 3rd of March. We will be doing a “test run” of the evening routine throughout the next two weeks and will make adjustments as necessary.

"Morning" Routine 2 years ago

Like I said earlier…I’ve discovered that the best way to have a beautiful morning is to prepare the night before. So, my evening rountine goes something like this…and it only takes about 20 minutes or so…

*Lay out clothes…just thinking about what I’m going to wear doesn’t work.
*Set out stuff for breakfast (including vitamin)
*Get lunch ready (what I can…some of it has to be refrigerated)
*Check schedule for the morning (meetings? which conf rm?)
*Set anything I might need to take with me on the table by the door.
*Put on PJs
*Skin care stuff
*Brush teeth
*Set the alarm
*Put on eye mask (Husband comes to bed later and reads…I can’t handle the light on!)
*Think about the stuff that went right through out the day as I drift off to sleep.

So, in the morning…I’m ready for the day.
*Wake up
*stretch for a few minutes
*I make myself smile…it works ya’ know!?
*Make bed
*Read a positive quote off the internet (Search for Postive Quotes and you’ll get a lot of options…find a site that works for you! you can also subscibe to an e-mail service on some of them.)
*Think about quote while I eat breakfast and finish packing lunch
*Shower and get dressed, brush teeth and do the make up, etc. *Grab my stuff and go

If the quote was a good fit I’m usually thinking about it while I drive to work…if not, I’m listening to music and singing along!

Ah, ha... 2 years ago

Yes, getting ready for the morning the night before does help one to have a higher success rate when it comes to approaching this goal! Sounds obvious…and it is! Good Night! If I’d realised how much setting out my clothes the night before would make a difference…and getting my lunch for work ready…and breakfast…and vitamins…Wow. It’s preparation for the upcoming day that makes a morning routine work and I’m learning that the preparation for the next day starts the night before! I’m still bare bones, but it’s a start!

with a time limit! 2 years ago

I can think of a ton of things to incorporate into the creation of a beautiful, uplifting morning routine…I just have to remind myself that I am also on a schedule! I need to figure out what the key is to making this beautiful, uplifting and efficient! I’m not there yet!

I guess I need to define 2 years ago

what I would consider beautiful and uplifting and then go from there.

All I know is that I don’t want the rush, rush, rushing around to get it all together. I don’t want long and complicated. I do want the same thing for weekends as weekdays. It should be as second nature as possible.

AND I have to be able to work it around my husband’s morning routine.
