I do this a lot less often than I should

So I’ve got friends across the UK and a good few in the US as well (mostly clustered in the pacific northwest) and whilst I’d love to visit them I never seem to find the time to do so, or to just hang out and talk with those I do see – I always seem to need an ulterior motive “go to X with so and so” or “do Y with such and such” where X and Y tend to be things that don’t lead to any deep and meaningful social contact but more towards drinking or highly specific activities.
Thus in the next year I’d like to go to London and just hang out with friends more often
Visit Seattle and/or Portland to see friends there
I doubt I’ll achieve the latter but I’d like something to aim for
