Postmodern Magic by Patrick Dunn. Saw it in the library, where I’ve seen in several times before, and decided to finally give it a go. He has a unique take on the whole magical paradigm which appeals to my way of thinking, and some experiments that might well be worth a try. Plus, he has a cool blog…

(I know booklarnin’ isn’t everything, but it can be a useful exercise in mindstretching.)
I found a book for the new BoS and am thinking already of how I want to plan this out. Which is forcing me to ask myself what my beliefs and views are right now. Which is no bad thing, at any time.

What suddenly strikes me is that I haven’t had what I could properly describe as a BoS since I was a teen. It was long before teen Wicca books, and I was forced to cobbling together information, spells, correspondences from wherever I could find them. (Which was maybe no bad thing. Where resources are scarce, you get resourceful.) But I never kept up a proper, complete magical record.
These days, my focus has changed. I rarely do much of the kind of spellwork I used to do, for example. And my focus has shifted in that my creativity is far more intrinsic to my path than it was back then.
Now, I’m looking at my art journals, which already contain a fair amount of spiritual musings, and wonder: Is this my BoS anyway, now?
Maybe it is. I tend not to think of the spiritual side of life as being separate from the rest in the way I once might have done, either. But could I do with something that’s more focused in this area? I just feel the need for a separate book designated for that, for some reason.
I’ll sleep on it and see what comes up.

I describe myself as pagan for want of a better word. If you were to ask me to expand on that, I’d say I’m an eclectic urban pagan Gnostic Unitarian Universalist Zen tantrapunk. Go figure. :) But seriously…things have rather gone by the board recently and I need to work out more of a framework for myself to be eclectic within. If you see what I mean.
