i know exactly what i want – a pirate brand! just like they used to brand pirates with, a ‘p’. except on my arm, not my forehead, which is where they branded them in real life. basically i want the scar jack sparrow has – same scar, same place. im a bit of a johnny depp/pirates obsessive anyway, im into scarification as body art and i particularly like self-made markings on the forearms, hands and wrists so it all fits perfectly. plus i think it just looks cool :P
ive searched on the internet and found a place near enough to where i live that (apparently) can legally brand people – you have to enquire in person at the parlor for further details so ive no idea how expensive or anything it is – thats next on my research list, so far ive mainly been focussed on the pain! :S i watched a video of a guy getting a brand done in new york and it looked fucking painful..kind of an obvious statement that its pain central but this was a tough guy covered in tattoos and his whole body convulsed when the metal touched his skin.
apparently the smell’s not great either, and theres a risk of keloids which is naaat sexy.
im not keen on the way strike branding’s done – having to make a sperate mark for each line etc of the brand makes it more drawn out than the good old fashioned way when they did it as punishment. but of course there’s no way to really get a proper branding iron for it. not that i can think of anyway – even if i somehow managed to get one made, i doubt the parlor would agree to use that rather than their method, as they wont be used to doing it that way, the metal could be wrong for their method of heating etc etc.
guess im just being a pussy not wanting the pain to drag on.
even so, i do want to go through with it, and im thinking i want strike branding over the other methods of branding just because it’s closest to the original method of human branding – the way the pirates experienced it! 8]
