Hurricane Katrina

I’m often overwhelmed by the sheer mass of horrors in situations like this. Last night I found out my aunt is hosting an in law (mother and son) that fled from Katrina. The son will need to stay even after his mom goes back down south to work because he needs to enroll in school. This poor kid (13) has nothing, is enrolling in a unknown school in an unknown town and his mom is going to have to leave him there to do her job (she’s in the Coast Guard). It was a face though that I could say “this is one person I can help”
I still want to find more and better ways to help- but this is a start. I was able to send him a gift certificate and a baseball hat from his new city.
