This dj totally rocked. He was the best! I can’t imagine my adolescence without the sound of his voice and the music he played on the radio. His intention was to desegregate radio, and he play J. Geils band and Prince in the same show (when Prince was really edgy). The German techno music movement made it’s way to America by way of his show. He moved around to different radio stations because he had a difficult time sticking with the radio station’s rigid format. Mostly I remember him on WJLB (Sta-rong Songs:) Here’s a clip of his show playing an extended mix of a Thomas Dolby song.
tie a knot and just keep hanging, and remember there ain’t nobody bad.. like you.” – The Electrifying Mojo.
was a dj who played on the radio in the Detroit area in the ‘80s. I had no idea how great he was until I moved away and realized how bad radio was just about everywhere else I’ve lived.
Here’s the beginning of his call to order of the Midnight Funk Association, which happened each night at midnight.
