Financial manager. Last year I called this role ‘financial shaman’. I will call it ‘manager’ because shaman was a little too magical a word for something that might be better if I just ‘managed’ it, if you get my drift.

How do I limit myself?
I space out. I forget to look at my goals and I just do the bare minimum.
I get afraid and I avoid the issue or the person.
I also feel like a problem is so big it could never be solved, so I give up.
I don’t think I could be more than I am now. And sometimes when I begin to move forward, I feel anxious and want to slow down.
I let go of things, it becomes a big mess, and then I really don’t want to look at it.
I don’t ask for the help I need when I need it.
I forget to make consistent progress toward a goal through little actions.
In which areas of my life am I not achieving what I want?
Connecting with friends
Money
Poetry
Travel
Career
What do I say about myself to explain these failure?
I’m too busy.
I’m too broke and could never earn enough to fix this, buy this plane ticket, go here.
I don’t know what I really want to do.
They might not really like me.
I’m not cut out for this.
(Blech!!)

I learned that:
1. Money is still a sore spot and I’m often afraid to look at it. In fact, I often isolate around the issue.
2. I often try to avoid difficult things (like finances and studying again for another board exam).
3. Poetry helps me know how I’m feeling and where I’m at with my feelings. It also helps me stay whole. It is important.
4. Things don’t happen if I let them go.
5. It feels better to let things go in the short term, and to take care of stuff in the long term. Let me explain…
6. It’s better to stay in touch with people, even when it’s uncomfortable.
7. I really love to have fun, create, move, walk, be outside, touch, feel, eat, breathe, sing, talk…five senses.
8. Travel is important.
9. Love is possible.
10. I can heal. Lots was healed this year.
