Last Friday, as I was walking my dogs just after dark, a tiny Pomeranian trotted up and gave them each a sniff. He was very friendly, but obviously very lost. He let me pick him up, and I brought him inside. I found that he was well cared-for, and that he had apparently been wearing a collar recently, but didn’t have it on right then. It would have been easy to either, A, turn him back out into the cold, or B, just keep him myself, but I decided to comb the neighborhood, thinking he must be lost from somewhere nearby. I knocked on a few doors, then headed further out into the neighborhood, all to no avail. I was about to give up when I heard yelling that sounded (no kidding) like “Pooooookeeeeeeeee!” I yelled back, and kept going until I found the source: two little girls who were missing their little Pomeranian. When the girls saw that I had him, they started crying and yelling “thank you thank you thank you!” It was the sweetest thing (absolutely precious little girls). Pookie looked happy to see his owners as well. It felt great to resist the temptation to “not get involved”. I would hope if my wee little puglets were to ever get lost someone would help them find their way home as well. Aren’t they cuties?
