It ain’t easy learning a language with no one to speak it to but yourself. I’m prioritizing written.
And the reason why I want to learn Chinese since having studied in a Chinese school for ten years, it’d be a waste to not be fluent. After all I’m half-Chinese. Besides that China will become the next global super power years from now!
Amazing how so many people would rather learn Japanese when Chinese is actually the most widely spoken language. Spanish comes in second.

I’ve been studying that large book written by William McNaughton and Li Ying and I can say I’ve memorized quite a number of characters! Strangely I’m having an easier time memorizing the Traditional forms instead of the Simplified ones.
Maybe I can tutor kids with my humble knowledge of the Chinese language… Kinda low on cash… $_$

When I say learning Chinese, I focus more on written than oral. the great thing about Chinese is that Mandarin, Fukien, Cantonese etc. all understand the same written forms.
I don’t know about the debate between the traditional and simplified forms though.
