I was at a water aerobics class a few weeks ago w/ a new instructor. There are 2 deaf girls in that class that I’ve never “talked” to. I was so blown away that the instructor signed instructions to them throughout the class. I thought that was so fabulous. I told her so afterwards in the locker room.
I’ve always wanted to learn sign language… more than just the alphabet… I think it would be really great to be an interpreter.
After this aqua class, it got me thinking about being able to sign in certain “teaching situations”, like being a WW leader. I think it would be wonderful to be able to offer a meeting for the deaf, or even just be able to sign if there was just a single deaf member in my meetings.
So I’m looking @ either taking a class or buying a book or DVD. Maybe all of the above. I think that being in a class would be more beneficial… practicing w/ others.
Now that I’m back to being well on my way to reaching my WW goal & closer to becoming a leader, I’m really wanting to move on this goal.
