I have had this goal for over a year, and have only now decided to write an entry. Before acting fully on this goal, I think I needed to think more about what it truly means.
Living mindfully means being fully aware in the present moment. In addition to simply rejecting mindlessness, I have discovered that mindfulness is also about being in touch with oneself.
Like anyone here on 43Things, I have a lot of goals, hopes, and dreams that I would like to fulfill. But one thing that can stand in the way of this is not being focused and aware.
Though I have worked on several simultaneous goals with good progress, I have found that doing so does create some anxiety, and also lowers my own sense of satisfaction. Therefore I have decided that while I will keep my goals, I will also make being aware of what I want, what I need (acknowledging that there may be a difference between the two!), and why a strong priority, so I can work on goals with more joy and less stress.
Goals and dreams are wonderful, but it is also important to put aside what COULD be and instead focus on what already IS.
This to me is what mindfulness is all about.
