Rew's "Day" 17 of Hundredpushups 14 months ago

Day 17:(week 5, day 1 2nd repeat)
40,32,30,25,25—total=152

(3rd FAIL! I also kind of fell of the pushup wagon. Last entry was …(cough) three weeks ago. In that time I did do a couple crazy sporadic sets. I did a max set of 60 followed by a 40 one day. Woot! Tonight I knew I was in for trouble due to the lapse. Not as bad as I thought it would be, though. These were done with over 1 minute rests. Will just keep on pushing. If I am stuck here for life it really won’t matter to me much. It still makes good lean endurance muscle.)

Day 16:(week 5, day 1 repeat)
40,32,30,25,20—total=147

(2nd FAIL! Total is less then previous as well. Redeeming fact is that I almost completed this. I think mentally I was defeated. I knew I would not complete the last set but that set me up for only 20 for the max set with that in my head. I will feel this plenty the next couple days. Previous to this I did a quick 40 – 30 set a couple days ago.)

Day 15:(week 5, day 1)
40,25,20,25,40—total=150

(BUZZZZzzzz! FAIL! This attempt from last night. Good pushes but a failure for this day. After 40 pushes and a 60 second rest I was unable to do 35 in a repeat set. Arms gave out at 25. I decided to just do as many as I could every set after that and see what I got. Overall not that that bad. Doing a 150 pushups can’t really be a failure … can it? (wink) )

Day 14:(week 4, day 3)

30,22,22,20,30—total=124

(Good pushes. Last set was a killer. Had an audience in the beach house here. These were done the 27th or 28th actually.)

I’m on vacation so the regularity of my daily routines are all out of whack. I just did my test as well for the next program and cranked out an even 50. Not bad. Week 5 looks like a killer. I see some repeats in my future. Hehehe.

27,21,21,18,30—Total=117

(In the words of Darth Vader: “All too easy.” Well, easier enough tonight to add an additional 5 to the final max set. The additional 30 second rest is like sweet sweet nectar for my tired muscles.(laugh))

Day 12:(week 4 day 1)

27,20,20,17,27—Total=111

(Forgot to log this yesterday. Pretty tough because I was keeping to the strict 60 second rest. Could have maybe done two more on the final max set but then my arms would have burst into flames and burnt my house down.)

(Ummm, this is freakish. Honestly I thought tonight would be a big “failed to complete this”. I wasn’t timing as strict with my rests tonight so I’d bet some of these are 3 minute not 2 min rest periods … but it’s all good. Moving on! 121 pushes!!!)

Day 10:(week 3 day 2*Repeat)
27,19,19,15,25—Total=105

(Still wouldn’t dream of doing more then 25 in the max set. I may repeat this yet again. No matter. 10 days in feels good. Yesterday after a run I did pullups, some curls, and 25 pushups because I was feeling anxious. That could have affected things this time too. Will give myself a couple days rest after Thursday’s pushes.)

Day 9:(week 3 day 2)
27,19,19,15,25—Total=105

(This was a good solid workout. No way could I do more then 25 for my max final set. I know I will repeat this one as well (sigh) but I’m not too bummed as the added muscle and strength I’ve got 9 days is way better then just getting to 100. May take me a bit but I’m going to get there.)

(Was pretty tired already tonight, just energy wise, but the pushups were much cleaner throughout and a tad easier.)
