Keep my room clean

I think we have finally decided which of the two beds in our bedroom is going to be our bed-of-choice.

As much as we (especially I) would really love to use the antique metal bed, it just isn’t big enough. Add the Great Danes (heck, even one of them) to my hubby and myself and it just isn’t going to work. Then, because the bed sits up so high, we have already had each of the dogs break out a window just by laying there and stretching or whatever… That about sucks!

So, this weekend, we should be moving out the antique bed and returning to our previous bed: a queen size. Sigh.

But now we can put the computer and stuff in our room and get organized.

As much as I hate to give up the bed, it really is for the best…

He spent a goodly amount of time in the bedroom on Sunday, hanging up clean clothes and cleaning off the antique iron bed. We have two beds in our room right now – we are in the process of “moving” from the queen size into the antique iron frame bed that is a double. Soooo…. the iron bed is cleaned off… now we just need sheets and for me to get those dang curtains done… once the queen size bed is out, he can set up the computer area and I can set up the sitting area.

Baby steps… but it is so wonderful to have had that help!

Or maybe it should be “Those Darn Kids!” We’ve been doing pretty well on maintaining our bedroom environment… then, yesterday, the children didn’t put the dogs out for the day, left the kitchen door onto the front porch wide open… not only does this contribute to the enormous monthly gas bill (there was 2 inches of snow on the ground!), but it allowed two Great Danes to have a field day in the house… Yippee! They drug yarn out of the knitting basket, knocked the little storage boxes of misc. stuff off of our bedroom dresser, disassembled our bed (and left muddy foot prints in the place of clean sheets!), and distributed the bathroom trash throughout the downstairs. I’m sure the dogs had a great time… me… not so happy. Grrrr…

Made a huge dent this weekend. Hubby and I just went in there and got busy… cleaning the room, that is. All clean clothes are put away, all dirty clothes are washed and in the dryer cycle today, threw away many magazines, sorted CDs and DVDs, washed the bed linens, vacuumed, dusted, hung a picture, moved a book case…. just lots and lots got done. I think hubby did more than I did (including taking down light fixtures and cleaning them… Wow!), but we both got so much done. It was wonderful… We are to finish up this evening… Yea!

I’m 32 and this is still a challenge…
