This past weekend... 3 years ago

...was awesome!

The big barn got reorganized, rearranged and cleaned up!.

Old wood and metal scrap were sorted.

Rabbit hutches were cleaned out and moved to their new, permanent location.

Dakari and Gus were pastured.

A fence and gate were repaired.

Barn tools were organized and put away (and have stayed there, by the by.)

The containment for the chicks we have on order was brought into the barn.

Hay and straw were restacked.

The back of the barn was aired out.

Part of the old pig barn was cleaned out (has been claimed as a club house for the girls).

The antique booth was dusted and swept.

And there were other smaller things besides.

I swear, I can see Spring from here!

Tuesday... 3 years ago

This weekend went quite well…

Friday night we ended up “childless”! woo-hoo! We went to my favorite Japanese place in the big city of Fort Wayne and I had sushi, sushi, sushi…. Yum! (And the company wasn’t too bad either, Ha!)

Saturday saw us cleaning the house, working in the barn, working in the barn yard (a big thanks to my sister-in-law for helping me shovel shi… uh, horse poop!), playing with the goats, taking pictures… it was wonderful.

Saturday night saw us without children AGAIN! We were at the auction until midnight… then we went to Wal-Mart and wandered around for awhile… this was followed by a one a.m. breakfast at the truck stop… it was like dating again!

Sunday saw us working in the house some more, going to the antique mall and getting our booth situated (we made over $100 last week, that was exciting!), and then doing a lot of “running around” picking up children in town and in the city, etc.

I was pretty tired come Sunday night, but, WOW, this was a weekend that I can hold up as an example of how my weekends should be.

I’m a happy girl.

Friday 3 years ago

Well, here it is, Friday, the weekend is staring me in the face.

What to do, what to do?

My list really doesn’t change much:
~ Farm Stuff
~ Animal Stuff
~ Clean Stuff
~ Auction
~ Antique Mall Booth ~

Why should it be so danged hard to get stuff done… I mean, I want to accomplish so much! And it isn’t stuff that I am being forced to have to do, it is stuff I enjoy and derive happiness from… sigh.

I have been so darn tired this week… I just know I am going to go home and go to sleep and waste away the weekend again.

I’m going to the big city of Fort Wayne this evening to run a couple of errands… maybe I can get motivated somewhere along the way…

The Weekend Begins 3 years ago

My official workday ended 15 minutes ago… We have plans to catch dinner and a movie with friends tonight. There is an ice carving festival in our town over the weekend. The auction is Saturday night. We will be working on the booth at the flea market / antique mall on Sunday. Social activities are definitely taken care of.

I also have a project that I am taking home with me from work… it should have been done today, but it was assigned this morning and is really several days worth of work. So that will add to my weekend.

And there is always house stuff, barn stuff, animal stuff, kid stuff, family stuff, laundry, etc, etc.

I am determined not to waste this weekend. And I am going to work very hard at not becoming overwhelmed. Wish me luck!

Sigh... 3 years ago

Every week I get 48 hours or so to do a lot of nothing… or a lot of many things… my choice. Unfortunately, I usually end up with the former instead of the latter.

Sleeping in… and then a nap.
Reading.
Doing sudoku.
Just meandering around the farm.

Then I get frustrated at all the stuff that I don’t get done.

Then I get overwhelmed by all the stuff that I want to do.

Then I get waylaid by all the stuff I need to do.

Then I retreat…
...and take a nap…
...read…
...do sudoku…
...meander around the farm…

I need to get a plan and stick to it.

I spend the week at my desk and my drive to and from work thinking of all that I could be doing if I was home and just had the time.

Then, I have the time and do… nothing. Or at least, not a lot. Then there is guilt… and the cycle repeats.

Sigh.
