21. a bunch of movies… I think I took too long, so my husband just gave them to someone for their garage sale. ha. so I guess I’ll just count them as one, then.
22. Egyptian beading kit. It was an awesome gift as a kid, and I used it. There were lots of beads left, tho, so I decided to pass it along and let someone else get some enjoyment out of it.
23. a… book… of some kind. I feel like such a fool saying that, but it was a manual or something. not literature or anything.
24. Song of Solomon (that Marlene Dietrich movie) cause it was good to see it a couple of times, but I don’t consider it a keeper.
I tried to get rid of another book (manual), but I keep finding uses for it before I put it back in the ‘get rid of this crap’ pile. But I think I’ve got it pretty well memorized now, and I had my husband read the part I wanted him to read, so I think I’m going to finally get rid of it. Soon.
I was also going to get rid of a few more clothes, but I decided to alter some of them instead. I’ll give away the rest later, or maybe try to sell them to Plato’s Closet or something.

I’ll list the actual ones later, but we’re just going to give away some of our VHS tapes that we never watch… the group includes Labyrinth. I never got into that movie, even though I kinda wish I could since I generally like movies like that. Maybe it’s cause I didn’t grow up with it, I didn’t ever see it till I was 18, I think.

These are items I’m taking to a church exchange type thing (hopefully I can hold off on taking in more junk… but it will be difficult because apparently that’s just how I am). I’m taking the things left to a thrift store when it’s over:
9. a calendar
10. a paper lantern (red with gold trimmings… woo!)
11. a belt
12. a skirt
13. 5 pairs of socks (they’re new and still in their packaging! haha… I don’t give people my old socks. I just never used them.)
14. a dinosaur train set type thing
15. a manual juicer
16. small, blue tin bucket
17. small terra cotta planter
18. a veggie chopper (we somehow ended up with two, and we don’t need two!)
19. a media rack
20. an incomplete set of dishes (we finally upgraded a year or two ago, and haven’t needed these ones since then)
As for my old karate stuff… I called one of the studios of the company I used to take lessons from but they said they don’t re-circulate anything. So maybe I’ll sell them for cheap on Ebay or something, I dunno. I still like the idea of giving the belts, weapons (such as they are), and videos and stuff to someone who can’t afford everything, but I dunno. I guess giving away the belts doesn’t make as much sense since no one else earned them but me. So maybe I’ll save those. And I don’t really want to give someone my old gis – they may be clean, but I did sweat in them many times, after all. I dunno. I guess I could just give the videos to a thrift store and sell the sword and bo staff.
I also need to figure out the best place to send my (and my late cousins’) old pairs of glasses. I know there are places that use the components and then give them to people who need glasses… I think I just need to do some more research.
Sorry, that was sort of rambling.

6. a dress
7. a pair of espadrilles with black cloth straps (although, to be honest, I wouldn’t be getting rid of these if I didn’t have to cause they’re so cute and used to actually be comfortable, before my feet swelled up from being preggo. One of the straps ripped a little and is beyond fixing but I put off getting rid of them for months and months.)
8. several dozen plastic hangers that have somehow made their way into my house (counting them all as one… otherwise I’d be done with my 52 things already!)

So far I’m getting rid of…
1. a colander
2. a pair of black pumps
3. a board game
4. a massage-y foot soak thing
5. wedding bouquet (I didn’t preserve it properly and now it’s all squished-looking and dusty and full of who knows what… I’m going to save a few petals, tho)
