pay off credit cards

Well… my solution to getting rid of my credit card debt is to get another credit card!

Okay, not quite. I did a credit report and found out I had two credit cards I’d forgotten about (applied, accepted, and never activated). One of them happened to have a 0% APR balance transfer until July ‘06. Plus it has a higher credit limit. Woot.

So I’m transferring the balance of the card I am charged interest on to the card which won’t charge me interest for six months. If nothing else, this saves me about $100 in interest. It’s not much, but it’s a start.

My second step is getting more hours at my current job AND looking for another job.

This was a dumb idea. Unfortunately, my textbooks needed to be purchased, and I need to eat. I should probably eat less, and that would help, but the fact remains that I have a balance!

I had 2 cards, one of which was a department store card. I finally paid off the balance on the department store card (its interest was twice as high as my main card!), and so I’m down to making payments on the other card. This is a bit of a problem because I don’t have enough income to afford rent and utilities, much less food and credit card payments. Going to need to find another one…

The start of spring semester is going to kill me all over again.
