On the lower floor of my house, there’s an electric organ that was one of my grandmother’s prized possessions. Everyone in my family knows that my grandmother, from whom I’ve inherited so many excellent traits, was a magnificent pianist. I have been meaning to learn since I was 5, but I lacked the discipline to sit at home for hours at a time practicing or taking lessons.
I regret that. I will be home for the summer, with access to this great instrument, with very little to do aside from work at whatever low-wage job I’m taking in order to pay off my credit cards. I will drop by B&N sometime soon and take advantage of my discount before I’m no longer allowed to and buy a piano book or three for me to study from.
By the end of the summer, I’m hoping I can play something recognizable all the way through with fewer than 5 errors. Think it’s doable?
