Join the Peace Corps

two weeks to staging! Still don’t really believe i’m going.

I not going to lie, i was freaking out about my second dental clearance just because from all the hoops peace corps has made me jump thus far. I didn’t think i was going to be cleared so quickly, but i’m good! Now i’m all done with all my peace corps stuff and i can enjoy my five week vacation. Today is a good day!!!!

Finished up my internship last week! I’ve been a bit lazy with peace corps stuff but just requested to have some required medical stuff faxed over today and made an appointment for a new dental clearance, since my old one has expired! Bummer, but once i’ve done this i’m all set till departure! I really can’t believe it!

Starting all my post-invite work. Today tackling my resume and aspiration statement. Hopefully I’ll email it by Friday.

Recieved my invitation for service! Leaving for Lesotho June 2, 2008! Can’t wait!

last week a received an email stating that my invite has been pushed back and the earliest i will leave it January although it can go as late as April. i am not going to give up, this is something i really want to do.

I just got off the phone with the placement officer and not at all i what i was expecting to hear. I don’t know if i will even get an invitation at this point from the super vague conversation I’ve just had. I will supposedly receive another phone call within the coming weeks, but i don’t know what to believe. i feel like the placement officer hadn’t even read my file and made me feel like all this time waiting and complying with everything was in vain. I am so terribly upset, i know i want this, but i feel like it might not happen.

Ok, so originally i was posted to leave the end of September, but i am going to call tomorrow and move my date to January for several reasons. First and foremost my grandparents 50 wedding anniversary will be in November and i have an opportunity to do a wonderful internship with international rescue committee and i believe that i will gain valuable experience there that i can take with me to the peace corps. So lets see how the conversation goes.

OMG, so exciting,I received an email from my PO today! I am missing quite a few items, but i am hoping to take care of it all on Monday because i am so excited! One of my references isn’t considered from a friend, i need to add to my cross-cultural essay, need to send my undergraduate transcript, and send the info to all my HIV/AIDS courses that I’ve taken so far.

I’ve been medically cleared!!!! I am so happy!!!! This has been the most difficult portion of the process so far(over six months in total)!! I cannot wait for the placement officer to give me a call or send me an email. Such a happy day!!!
