Start an independent record label

Felt Cat Records based in Emporia, Kansas. Eastern Kansas has some serious talent right now, especially in Wichita. Black Lodge Studio is located near Topeka, and has some top-notch pros working there who’ve worked with bands like Motion City Soundtrack, Senses Fail, Single File, Rookie of the Year, Spitalfield, and Appleseed Cast amoung others. The one band on my makeshift label, Aeolian, is going into this studio to be recorded and produced by Chris Cosgrove, great dude who knows people. I don’t want to be a major indie label ever, I just want to help out some great area bands. I never had any intentions of putting anyone up in Black Lodge (expensive, a lot of work, et cetera), my ideal plan was lot’s of home recording and midwestern touring with plans to branch out. It’d be nice to be able to survive off of this one day, but that’s really all I want back from it. Let’s face it, shitty day jobs are shitty day jobs. I dropped out of college for this ideal (probably a bad call, but I’ll roll with it) and lord know sI have the passion and time for this right now. So, I guess, let’s just see where this sudden business venture takes me.
