Release 100 books on BookCrossing

On the inspired tailcoats of several new finds, I decided to try to find a few safe release spots despite the less than book friendly weather. Like these info boxes scattered around Granville Island…

Again, the warm, bright Autumn is making leaving books out a lot easier – and there are more people out and about to pick them up. I’ve recently had another couple of book journaled by strangers who seemed quite happy to have found them.

My book box is shrinking and I’m at the halfway point of this goal.

The continuing summery weather is really helping with this goal – I feel much freer leaving books out in the wild when there aren’t ominous rainclouds hanging about on the horizon. I’ve been keeping a release bag in the car so I can leave them behind wherever we go.

Another couple of books and I’ll be at the halfway point!

I released several books on our trip up the Sunshine Coast (and left one with the friends we were staying with who knew Paul too). Add Roberts Creek, Sechelt, & Powell River to the list of places I’ve left books behind. I wish I’d brought more with me…

A very special thank-you to fellow 43er & BookCrosser bethieb for the very thoughtful package I received earlier this week full of cover labels. I released my first book with one today at Granville Island and plan to leave another at tonight’s lantern festival at Trout Lake.

I think people will be more inclined pick up a wild book if it’s obviously been left behind on purpose.

I’m really enjoying this – I should be up to 25 before the sun goes down and hope to hit the 100 mark before summer fades. It was a kick to have one of these found and journaled by someone earlier this week, I hope there are many more to follow.
