Get new glasses

Yes, I’m even seeing better in my dreams. I didn’t think I had a shot of these, but it seems that someone snuck up on me. :) The second pair is supposed to be ready today, so hopefully we can pick them up soon. It’s so nice to see again. Hallelujah!

(dancing around and bumping into several tables) I haven’t decided on the 2nd pair yet… black and catty I think.

24 hours after I challenged myself on this, I was back on Broadway with Markus and Isak in tow, trying on multiple pairs, determined to find something. I found a few decent ones, but nothing that really felt like me.

Then Markus wandered over to the far wall where some of the higher end frames were (I was avoiding them, not wanting to fall in love with something that would cost $700). He brought me some gorgeous dark ruby frames to try on. Not only did I love them, but it turned out they were on sale, AND I get a second pair free (lenses included).

I think it’s pretty funny that after trying on a million pairs, Markus somehow manages to effortlessly bring me the perfect pair. Love him. Love them. And I pick them up Monday.

I still haven’t decided on the second pair though. I took some pictures (above) of some potential ones – votes?

Friday I took the bus to Broadway and tried on somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 frames. I actually liked some of them, and they’re having a killer 2 for 1 sale, so I think I’ll head back there with someone over the age of two to get a second opinion. I’d hate to pick something whilst in a peculiar mood & end up looking like Dame Edna.

Life has been blurry for far too long. I don’t think I’m ready for surgery (even if I had the money) and there was a ripped contact lens incident lens yesterday which was unspeakably unpleasant. Subtitles are likely to give me crows feet if I don’t take care of this before long…

I almost forgot… new contacts = sunglasses. This is a relief. Markus brought me home some cute purple ones…

Oh my god. I had forgotten how amazing it is to see properly.

After making the rounds at several glasses shops, it became painfully apparent that I’m not going to easily find something I love for less than my rent costs. However – I wandered into Metrotown eyecare centre and found that I can get all the free trial contact lenses I want for a small dispensing fee ($40).

I had my eye scrip with me, which was still good, so Vivian (the supremely nice eyecare lady) measured my eyes & gave me a bag of disposable lenses right then & there (and I can keep going back until I find something I like).

I can see! I can see! I can see!
(Perhaps even well enough to find some decent frames, but it’s less of an issue suddenly.)

I need both new glasses and contact lenses. I’m quite nearsighted and my current prescription is too weak, I ripped my right contact lens months ago, and things have been a blur since. I should also probably have another eye exam (my last one was about a year ½ ago when I intended to do this).

I find picking out frames really hard. I want something funky but classy. Bold but not sore thumb. Something that suits my face. Ahhhh!!!
