“50 YEARS OF PHOTOGRAPHS: The only comprehensive body of documentary/art photography of Vancouver in existence”
That was great. We only had about an hour before the gallery closed, but we had plenty of time to walk through the whole exhibit and catch most of the 20 minute movie they were showing.
It was amazing to see the city, buildings and people here from one person’s perspective over such a long period of time. Interesting to find bits and pieces still here. Very inspiring.
We’ve both decided we need to get out to do these sorts of things together more often.

We’re planning on going to the Fred Herzog exhibit this Tuesday. We already have a sitter set up and if all is going well we may even stop off at the Railway for a pint on the way home. Like a real live honest to goodness date or something. We’re both really looking forward to this.

I used to go to art galleries frequently – at least several times a year. There used to be a lot more time and they used to cost quite a bit less (for the big ones).
The most recently I’ve been to the Vancouver Art Gallery was in 2004. I made it to several shows that year: Chagall, Warhol, and Goya (with Buster Keaton & William Kentridge). Markus hasn’t been since the Carr, O’Keeffe, and Kahlo exhibit in 2002.
We tried to make it to the Picasso show a couple of years back, but it was insanely packed the day we went and we opted to go for pints at our favorite little pub instead.
We have made it out to various local small galleries and art openings, which is completely enjoyable in a different way, but both decided we really want to catch the Fred Herzog photography exhibit, which is on at the VAG until May, so we should manage (but just to make sure, I’m adding this to my list).
