  • More mail from Tasmania! OThankyouthankyouthankyou! Every day this week I’ve found a wonderful surprise in the mailbox.
  • Happy pedied feet. I spent this afternoon pampering my tootsies ridiculously. All I have left to do is pick some fresh polish (after fighting headaches, cramps, and tantrums, I really needed to do something nice for me).
  • Isak proudly pushing his little bicycle around the yard. He can’t ride it yet, but it sure gives him pleasure!

Pushed  — 2 days ago
  • Pushing myself to go out and walk for an hour when I wanted to pull the covers up over my head halfway through the day. The fresh air and sunlight did me good, aired out my noggin.
  • A cold glass of very bubbly Sprite.
  • A late night drive, stopping to look down on the glittery city.

Keeping up with the Jones  — 3 days ago
  • Getting a photo I took on a pop bottle!
  • Numbers on this site: giving my 22,222nd cheer on the 22nd, checking off my 300th thing (see above), getting sub #175, posting this at 11:11… maybe I should go play those numbers.
  • Fresh blueberries, fresh ice-cream, fresh flowers, and freshly squeezed oranges on freshly caught salmon.

Unfurl  — 4 days ago
  • Waking to a clean (under the cake plates, ribbon curls and wrapping paper), clean house.
  • Our next door neighbour brought over a big bouquet of sleeping flowers from his garden the previous evening, and all day long bright, different coloured blooms were sneaking open. Gorgeous.
  • An evening trip to the park. They were having a blues fest and people with banjos and stand up bases were scattered around playing wonderful songs. Isak and I chased each other up and down the slide while the sun faded into tufts of gold cloud.

Time has very big wings  — 4 days ago

~ Sunday

  • It was Isak’s birthday and we all had a wonderful time! I can’t believe he’s three years old! Seeing how much love he has around him makes me very happy indeed.
  • Old friends! New friends! Bubbles! Laughter! Sparklers in a chocolate cake!
  • Snacks before bed and all falling asleep hard after a long (in the best way) day.

Hourglass sand in my shoes  — 6 days ago
  • Hitting the beach side of the lake with Sherry, her friends, and the kids. They had the most wonderful time frolicking in the water! Few things top the interlaced sound of a hundred children having fun.
  • A bbq to celebrate Amber’s return! Salmon burgers, crazy kids running amok, catching up, Roza’s gorgeous, colorful, art smattered home (and the pornographic carrot). It’s so good to have her back home.
  • This time 3 years ago, I was just going into labor.

Glorious fence  — 1 week ago
  • After more than a decade, I reconnected with a very old friend with a very new baby. And my brother dropped in for another very nice visit.
  • Walking to a rarely visited park. We got there just in time for the draining of the pool (and amusing kid theories on where the water goes) but still had fun. Kid friendships were forged, and the moms connected too! On the way home we passed a box of free books. I grabbed one and left the rest for others to enjoy.
  • The three lovely young ladies off to a 70’s costume prom. They were infectiously giddy.

Blue skies and the smell of play-dough  — 1 week ago
  • Logging on and finding 43 cheers waiting for me!
  • Talking to 4 good girlfriends. The first left town a year ago and is moving back this weekend, # two is on tap for a chicks tea date, I’m planning a mutual family bbq with the third, and the fourth wants to collaborate on an artistic endeavor. My friend plate is rich and full!
  • A late afternoon trip to the water park where Isak and I splashed around, rolled hula-hoops, made play-dough ponies and left drawings on the warm cement with fat chalk. Then we came home damp & giggling to bowls of ice-cream (cappuccino chocolate chunk). Summer sweetness.

Checking the mail at midnight  — 1 week ago
  • New music from afar! JoyJoyJoyJoy! Such delightful pools of sound to fall into. (Thank you Pippi/Ophelia! ~ XO)
  • A long visit with JoJo. She hung out with Isak at the library while I had my tooth fixed, then we had a couple of cold ones (after my mouth was unfrozen and I could sip things without drooling on myself). Later we all walked around the lake in the golden light.
  • Watching Isak boundlessly making friends at the park. He’s so bold and sweet about his friendliness. I wonder if I could meet new people as easily as smiling and handing them a stick?

Whew!  — 1 week ago
  • I’m happy, grateful, and relieved beyond words that I backed up my computer last month, because my slave drive crapped out today, and I would have lost everything. I don’t even want to think about it.
  • During an evening walk around the lake, we saw a family of raccoons. Dad raccoon was standing guard while mom raccoon showed three little ones how to climb a tree.
  • The moon was bright and clear tonight. Isak tucked himself into bed and fell asleep before midnight.
