• A very tall glass of cold cranberry juice.

• After a homemade spaghetti dinner we all piled on the couch together and watched Bee Movie, which was cute.

• I forgot my camera but picked up a pen.

• After a stormy morning, the sun came out.

• Cheese doodle beaver habitats.

• New striped socks (even if they weren’t for me).

• Knitting with rosebud coloured wool.

• Trading rainy day stories.

• Lost balloons and peek-a-boo knotholes.

• Ebbing cold symptoms.

• Hearing from old teachers.

• News of a grade-school girlfriend’s healthy new baby boy.

• A very, very long walk around areas of the new neighborhood I hadn’t been yet. Curio shops, playgrounds, book stores, cafes… it was fun to explore.

• Extra affection. Everyone falling asleep together on the couch.

• Wandering Commercial Drive, running into an old high-school friend.

• Date bars and café mocha from a friendly barista that went the extra mile.

• Watching Vertigo and drinking Dr. Pepper from a wine glass.

• A thoroughly enjoyable walk around Burnaby Lake Regional Park. Crisp and colorful.

• Finding an old, leaf covered car in the woods, one friendly black squirrel on a fence, red holly berries, the sky mirrored in the lake, the cool November moon.

• Leftover treats and adrenaline from scary movies.

• Carving our jack ‘o lanterns! A big improvement on last year’s slap dash squash.

• Despite reports to the contrary, it was a lovely night out and we went trick-or-treating for hours. This is a fantastic neighborhood for it! Very festive yard décor, fireworks, and generous fistfulls of candy (although I thought the shiny Jesus pencil was an odd choice). Definitely a 5 star Halloween!

• About 5 minutes after Markus said he wished we had a copy of The Rocky Horror Picture Show we could watch (for old times sake), it came on TV. An excellent background for treat sorting.

• I’ve been hit with a cold, but I’m pretty sure it’s just a cold.

• Homemade pasta sauce with heaps of garlic and spices.

• I got some bad news, but it’s the type I’d rather know about.

• Skipped the transit trip to pre-school. We had a pajama day instead.

• Taking the first stab at this year’s pumpkin carving.

• Howling wind and rain at the windows while we were cozy indoors watching creepy movies and drinking cocoa-mochas with little marshmallows.

• Coffee and muffins with my friend and her mother, who both tell wonderful stories and inspire contagious laughter.

• My parents stopped by with some good news. We had an extra nice visit.

• Fabulously perfect avocados.
