find the perfect beer

Hallertau IMPERIAL PILSNER. On the bottle it says: “An Intense Hop Experience” That is TOTALLY true. Being the hop freak that I am, I’ve never had a beer with an injection of hops like this before. Wah! What a hop blast! I couldn’t drink a six pack of this in one sitting (it’d ruin the experience), but I seriously savored a nice cold glass of this. Highly recommended to any hop freaks out there.

Belgian or Belgian-style ales that could qualify as the perfect beer. But I did learn one thing recently – pumpkin ale is NOT a combination I enjoy. There are few (if any) ales I don’t like. Pumpkin ale is one of them. But I had to try it because it was Halloween.

Quadrupel! Excellent Belgian-style ale from the Ommegang Brewery in Cooperstown, New York. But because of Vermont’s interesting laws about high alcohol beer, I had to purchase this in the liquor section. (???) 9.8% is a bit higher than your average “sit-around-the-tube-watching-football” yellow beer.

If you like Belgian beer, this is a must try!

I had another Belgian I’ve never had before. Piraat! I loved it. As many Belgian brews go, it’s quality over quantity. Why drink beer flavored water when you can drink Belgian Ales?

Just when I don’t think there are any more beers I regard as superior and I come across these excellent brews: Golden Ale, Red Ale, and Dark Ale. Wah! Bière du Boucanier is like the champagne of beer. Damn those Belgians are good!

is a very good Canadian beer. In fact, Québec definitely has some of the best beers in the country and this Brune beer is right up there, in my opinion.

has some excellent beers. I recently had their Halloween ale and was very impressed. One of the better ales I’ve had in quite a while.

Dubbel Reserve is excellent. Recently my plumber was at the house to work on some things and afterward I offered him this beer. He said his favorite is Budweiser (yuk), but when he tasted the Allagash I asked him what he thought. He said it was okay. Yeah, right. I think he thought it was good. In my mind, if I have any beer I’d rather drink just a small amount of good beer than to drink a lot of disgusting beer. And Budweiser is not in my future.

A very crisp Belgian-style ale out of Cooperstown. Excellent beer.
