I started for fun to learn how to use my computer. My sister gave me a list she put together. Of aunts and uncles and spouses and some cousins…that was 164 people. I took ONE odd name, a Grandparent only 17 in US. I used White Pages. I Called all of them. After one week one 7th grader in a family had done a school project in pencil, and it connected ALL those 17 families in the US.
From that start a year later I had posted over 10,000 relatives in my Family Tree, and over 750 alive. I called close to 300, and documented EVERYTHING!!!
I even got back as far..on one limb of the tree to 65BC! The records are out there. If you can get connected to royality..there is lots to see. Ole King Sole..was a merry ole sole… he was a grandparent of mine!! What a Grin! Kings Queens Govenors…I found my Great Great Grandfather had 6 kids..not the one we heard of…and I found 5 families and the other kid found me by posts out there.
Use Ancestry.com if serious..costs now. Use Geneaology.com I think is free. Just Start..yes talk to all those still here. In my case all were gone, but others had put even books together on family names. You have no idea how big you family is I have documented almost 400 Grandparents!!! I never thought it worked the way it does….Start Writing things down. Generations Grande Suite from Sierra is an easy program to log into…they don’t have new for Vista but it should work ok and great on older computers.
I bet some of you are my cousins!
