I love Faulkner, but this book was painfuly boring. I liked the concept of 7 short stories about a family and their land throughout various times. But it just doesn’t work for me. Their were momments of interest but very limited. Well written but dull. Gald to have it behind me.

This is the 4th Faulkner book I have read (Sound/Fury, Light/August, Lay Dying). I have enjoyed them all. I found this a very enjoyable read. Although Faulkner uses Stream-of-consciousness it is not difficult to follow at all. It does leave on wondering why Harper Lee wasn’t sued for plagiarism when he released To Kill a Mocking Bird. The stories are very similar, and as much as I enjoyed Mockingbird, Intruder in the Dust is a far superior novel. I think Faulkner adds an extra element by making Lucas a dislikable character.
