Easy when you have no gainful employment.

Four Day Three Nights

..in Yosemite backcountry. Last night I was here. This should keep my outdoor tank full for a couple weeks.

Back From Vacation

...and my skin is much darker. It is a good thing.

Sick All Weekend

I caught a cold and I didn’t leave the house once. I spent a whole day sorting digital music files and I gave treatments to some family members, but all inside :(

Work Days

I am having trouble geting out of the house on weekdays. It has been a rather cold and rainy April so far, which doesn’t help, but I need more outside time ….it’s spring

Pt. Reyes

Took a short hike on Sky trail off Limatour yesterday with Les and Jette. They didn’t want to go far, so it was short and very sweet. The drive was awesome too; we took Sir Francis Drake the whole way and the coast route on the way back.

May Lake

We took a long time getting to Yosemite and it was late when we hit the entrance. We decided upon May Lake because we were running out of daylight and May Lake is only 1.2 miles from the parking lot, but with a significant altitude increase. It was as far as I need to get away.

We hiked Mt. Hoffman the next day but stopped at the ridge below the summit, where you can see the next valley over. From the ridge, the summit looks precarious and none of us felt like challenging our fear of heights. It was a perfect day, almost too warm and no breeze on top of the ridge.

It wasn’t too fun sharing the tent with the boys, number 2 stalls between breaths as he goes to sleep (when he is sleeping he is fine) and number 3 breaths audibly due to constantly stuffy nose. The rain-fly came loose and messed up the ventilation on the second night. I nearly had a panic attack before I realized the problem and fixed the ventilation. I made it through the night on sheer will power.

We broke camp Monday and hiked backed to the car. We stopped at Olmstead Point and thought the view was pale compared to the one from Mount Hoffman. Then we went for a hip wade a very quick dunk in very refreshing Tenaya Lake. After swimming we went home.

Unbelievably, I drove from the Big Oak Flats gas station to my house without stopping. Nearly 200 miles, I can’t remember making that long of a Highway 120 run since I have had a family.

Backpacking this weekend

with sons 2 and 3. We need it bad.

Another Toasty Day on Mount Tam

Just a quick jaunt from Mountain to the West Point Inn and back via Matt Davis. I am hella out of shape.

Mt. Tam Today

Mountain Home>Hogsback>Matt Davis>Bootjack> Troop 80 Spur > Troop 80 Trail>Alice Eastwood Road > Trestle Trail, with SO and the younger sons. It was hot on the way out on Matt Davis. Lots of car noise but very nice none-the-less.

I hadn’t had any exercise in weeks. I injured my elbow at the end of April and haven’t been training. I even let my gym membership lapse. I got hella sick a month and a half ago and had a linger bronchial infection for weeks afterward. I have been almost completely sedentary since the illness. This after the doctor told me I have high blood pressure on the 5th of May.

I need to establish a cardio program that doesn’t require the use of my arms (running), but I am having a hard time getting in the mood.
