23) Viewed the floats before the Rose Bowl Parade

Very cool!

22) Was briefly interviewed for a TV show

We were walking down the Third Street Promenade a few weeks ago when we were approached to be on People’s Court. My husband, mother and I were herded into a little taped off square where we were briefly introduced to the court cases for a show that will air on January 4th. Harvey Levin stuck a microphone in my face, asked a question, and I answered. We’ll see if I make the cut.

21) Tactical training with ATF agents

We were trained how to go into rooms down a long hall looking for suspects (played by ATF agents) with paint ball guns. I was shot in the arm. It was exhilarating and challenging.

20) Did surveillance training with real ATF agents in a real shopping mall

Was rigged with an earbud so I could stay in touch with others on my team as we trailed an ATF agent playing a drug dealer around a SoCal shopping mall. I have dreams about these kinds of spy games. Too fun.

19) Shot a fully automatic weapon

This is me shooting a Thompson submachine gun. Also shot a bunch of other guns on range day with the ATF Citizen’s Academy. I am not a gun fan, but I have to say it was fun to get to do something so out of my comfort zone.

18) Made pickled watermelon

It wasn’t very hard, just required some attention. I am not a sweet pickle fan, but I like these.

17) Volunteered at the PEN /USA Literary Festival

Wrote about it on my blog.

16) Trapped a raccoon

These things have been chewing on our house so loudly that they wake us up. We caught one last night and the other 5 in the family were borderline aggressive in the dark.

15) Cut back a tree by almost half

Took us a total of 13 1/2 hours over 3 days. Hydra and I work well together. And he knows when to go get the camera, too. ;)

14) Sing with a world class pedal steel guitar player

I knew JayDee was good, but I didn’t realize just how good when he showed up at Roadster’s surprise party and played with the terrific backup band. He played the break when I sang “Walk Right Back.” Wow!
