Organize and de-clutter my house room by room

The second bedroom (eventually to be Jag’s room) and verandah are the main areas left to go. Our bedroom and the kitchen need a quick tidy up and sort, but the major work has been done in them. The rest of the house is decluttered and organised.

Although once I finish the upstairs I guess I’m going to have to get stuck into the downstairs!

The sunroom is now done, although it’s kind of cheating because it was just emptied onto the verandah while the renovations were done ;-)

Making steady progress on the second bedroom. It still seems overwhelming. There is no built in storage space in this house at all, so I’m having major problems with where to put the stuff we need to keep but aren’t currently using. Working, working, working on it.

Wow, three years since I’ve updated this one.

I still feel like I’m drowning in clutter. Some days the job just feels too big to ever complete, other days I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

The good news is that over the last few years I have managed to tame a few areas. My wardrobe was a big one and but is now managed. The living room still collects piles of clutter, but a regular clean up is quickly and easily done. The master bedroom is also fairly organised and only needs a quick clean up.

The next three areas to attack are the verandah, the second bedroom and the sunroom.

Terry has organised a house cleaner for me! She comes twice a week, one longer visit to clean and one shorter visit to tidy before the weekend. It’s been wonderful coming home to a clean house :)

The de-cluttering continues though. I’ve been following FlyLady’s 15 minute with a timer prompt and have been slowly getting through it. I like what she says about it not getting cluttered overnight, so it’s not going to get decluttered overnight either. A little bit each day should get me there though!

Did some more work yesterday, still going through old clothes. Have been working on keeping the living room clutter-free and it still looks nice and tidy.

This is going really, really slowly. But it is getting done!

I’ve also pretty much finished the Living Room and we’ve been going through clothes in the bedroom.

Looking forward to having a nice decluttered house sometime soon.

Okay, I’ve made a start. I worked for a couple of hours clearing the most obvious clutter and sorting into the three categories: keep, sell or throw. I now have two garbage bags of rubbish to show for my efforts and can actually see the corner of my desk!

Will tackle a little more tomorrow.
